Germany: the wonders of nature
German Visa
Königssee
In Germany, the cities, Berlin in the first place, are particularly attractive. But the landscapes too! The country has a hundred natural parks, which cover a quarter of its area. Among them are 16 national parks. Seashores, islands, mountains, forests, marshes, rivers, etc.: their variety is limitless. These preserved treasures can be discovered in many ways, by car, motorcycle, on foot, on horseback, by bicycle or by boat. Germany is also a natural place and its landscapes are worth the trip. Here are 5 of the most emblematic sites across the Rhine.
Hölderlin Wagner, through Friedrich and Beethoven, the theme of nature fed the German Romantics creators of the 19th century, both musicians, writers or painters. An almost mystical source of inspiration and exhilaration which, in part, had its origin in the idealization of very ancient myths.
Something has remained of it in Germany in recent decades where there is a firm battle over environmental issues. It should be noted that this is the European country where environmental organizations have had the largest audience since the 1970s.
Wadden Sea National Park Schleswig-Holstein
The Wadden Sea is the name given to an area of the North Sea which runs along the coasts of the Netherlands, Germany and Denmark.
The Schleswig-Holstein Wadden Sea National Park (Nationalpark Schleswig-Holsteinisches Wattenmeer) covers a large part of it over 4,410 km². It is the largest in its category.
On this coastline there are magnificent landscapes: dunes, salt meadows, beaches, marshes or even the Halligen, these islets with unusual shapes, often tiny, on which rise houses.
The walks are done on foot, at low tide, or by boat. They allow in particular to approach schools of seals.
Going south-west, the Wadden Sea National Parks of Hamburg and Lower Saxony (Niedersächsisches), where the Frisian Islands (or Friesian) are aligned, offer you similar beauties.
Northern Germany, Land of Schleswig-Holstein, west of Hamburg
Jasmund National Park
The Jasmund National Park (Nationalpark Jasmund) extends over the peninsula which gives it its name, itself located on the large island of Rügen.
Close to the mainland, it is bordered by the Baltic Sea. If its dimensions are relatively modest, its attractions are impressive.
You have chalk cliffs, the tallest of which rise almost 120 meters, which inspired one of the most famous paintings by the romantic painter Caspar David Friedrich (Kreidefelsen auf Rügen). In addition to the cliffs, the park contains a natural wonder that has earned it World Heritage status by Unesco: the primary beech forest of Germany, some of whose trees are 8 centuries old.

Saxon Switzerland National Park
Located south of Dresden, on the border with the Czech Republic, the National Park of Saxon Switzerland (Nationalpark Sächsische Schweiz) is famous for its spectacular sandstone cliffs. These are all popular climbing spots. There are 21,000 routes!
Simple walkers or hikers are content to admire the forms of great diversity and often magical that take the rocks, especially on the site of Wehlnadel.
Note that the cycle path that follows the course of the Elbe river, which runs along the park, offers beautiful views.
East of Germany, State of Saxony, south-east of Dresden and on the border with the Czech Republic
Black forest national park
First cousin of the Vosges, the Black Forest massif is separated from the latter by the Rhine and the plain of Alsace.
Included in a large natural park, this national park offers the quintessence of what this region can offer. First of all forests to which man has not touched for more than a century. Dense, deep, wild, they inspire romantic souls!
Heaths, rivers, lakes and marshes complete the picture, which can be discovered in particular through discovery trails, hiking and cycling tours. We also practice rafting and mountain kart here.
South-west of Germany, Land of Baden-Württemberg, near Alsace.
Berchtesgaden National Park
Direction the high mountain! The Nationalpark Berchtesgaden lies in the Bavarian Alps, very close to the beautiful Austrian city of Salzburg.
It is crisscrossed with paths and paths for all levels of walkers or cyclists which allow you to admire spectacular landscapes, or even observe wild animals (hares, marmots, ibex, golden eagles …). Other activities: mountaineering, paragliding, hang gliding, skiing…
Major sites are not to be missed, such as the Wimbach gorges or the Königssee lake which are overlooked at 1,800 meters above sea level from the end of the Jenner cable car.
In the south-east of Germany, in Bavaria, on the Austrian border, 20 km from Salzburg.
