Center Pompidou
In the heart of the Beaubourg district in the 4th arrondissement of Paris between the Marais and the halls, near the Rambuteau metro station, is the Center Pompidou with its amazing modern and original architecture with vibrant colors. During its construction, the building caused polemics in the 1970s, but today it is a globally recognized center for art and culture. It was commissioned by the French President Georges Pompidou, who wanted an original cultural institution in the heart of the capital. Today it contains the best of modern and contemporary art.
On the 4th and 5th floors you can admire a remarkable collection of modern art from 1905 to 1960 with the works of great masters such as Picasso, Matisse or Soulages as well as realizations of contemporary art from 1960 to today by famous artists such as Tinguely, Niki de Saint-Phalle , Klein, Arman or Warhol.
Afterwards you should definitely visit the 6th floor, because from there you can enjoy a wonderful view of Paris and the surrounding area!
As for events, the center regularly organizes temporary exhibitions, but also concerts and conferences. There is also an area for children and teenagers, bookshops and boutiques, as well as a library and a cinema.
The very lively piazza in front of the Center Pompidou is often the scene of street theaters with jugglers, actors and musicians who entertain passers-by with a lot of joy and passion.
