Pantheon
In the heart of the Latin Quarter in the 5th arrondissement of Paris and near the Cardinal Lemoine metro station, this former religious building, which was converted into a republican temple in 1791, is a national hall of fame for France and the burial place for great personalities of the countryis. The famous neoclassical style pantheon has an elegant portal with Corinthian columns and was designed by the architect Soufflot. With a length of 110 m, a width of 84 m and a height of 83 m, it has an impressive size. The main floor houses primarily majestic paintings and sculptures, while the crypt contains the tombs of philosophers and writers such as Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Émile Zola and Alexandre Dumas. Great resistance heroes such as Jean Moulin and Pierre Brossolette and scientists like Pierre and Marie Curie have also found their final resting place here.
